Program Title: Smart Nutrition and Conditioning for Kids (SMART)
Description: The overall purpose of the proposed SNACK program is to increase the fitness and health of children ages 7-12 years old in the City of Trenton and Ewing Township by providing fundamental integrative training (FIT) and health education in the areas of fitness, healthy eating, and obesity and diabetes prevention (Bukowsky, Faigenbaum, & Myer, 2014).

Protocol Number 17983: The Efficacy of Mindfulness Meditation for Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy in Older Adults.
Description: This pilot study, a quasi experimental design had a sample of 20 participants. The main aim of the study was to determine if 4 weeks of mindfulness meditation practice had a positive effect on quality of life, pain and sleep in older adults with symptomatic diabetic peripheral neuropathy. The results of this study were published in Holistic Nursing Practice (see publications).

Title: Nurse practitioners’ childhood obesity attitudes and counseling practices. The goal of this descriptive study was to evaluate family and pediatric nurse practitioners, attitudes and counseling practices of obese children. Specific facilitators and barriers to preventing and treating childhood obesity were identified. Results presented at AANP conference in 2011.

Novo-Nordisk: $45,000 awarded (see research support for description)
Regional: GNE Demonstration. CMS funded $200 million dollar grant under the Affordable Care Act over 4 years (2012-2016) to 5 designated US hospital systems. La Salle University is one of nine schools/universities in the HUP consortium.
The goal is to provide clinical education and training for APRNs by providing financial support to clinical sites, preceptors, and schools that prepare APRNs. The majority of students in the demonstration are nurse practitioner students. My role includes: active participant and representative on behalf of La Salle University NP Program, Care Model Committee Member, E*Value La Salle Faculty Point Person
