Focus on: Nurse Practitioner Faculty Clinical Practice!

The nurse practitioner faculty members from the Department of Nursing are actively engaged in providing advanced clinical care in the community, in addition to their teaching loads. Through their clinical practices, faculty members, provide service to the community, as well as maintain currency and relevance in their respective clinical specialties. When appropriate, nurse practitioner faculty members also provide clinical mentorship to our graduate students through on-site preceptorships at their clinical practice sites. Examples of practicing nurse practitioner faculty members include: Sharon Byrne, DrNP, RN, APN. Assistant Professor: Dr. Byrne is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In addition to teaching in the graduate and undergraduate programs, Dr. Byrne practices as at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. As part of the Cancer Outreach Project, she works with underserved populations, providing cancer screening, early detection and referral services for breast, cervical, colon and prostate cancers. Connie Kartoz, PhD, RN, APN. Assistant Professor: Dr. Kartoz, a nationally certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Although she has extensive experience in primary care, Dr. Kartoz currently provides specialty care to patients suffering from all types of arthritis, osteoporosis, and fibromyalgia at the Rheumatology Center of Princeton. Her particular focus in this practice is helping patients to maximize their health. Claire Lindberg, PhD, RN, APNC. Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator: Dr. Lindberg is nationally certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and also as an Adult Nurse Practitioner. In addition, she has additional training in the subspecialties of adolescent health and women’s health. Dr. Lindberg currently practices at the Women’s Health and Counseling Center in Somerville New Jersey where she provides general primary care and reproductive health care to indigent women and teens.
