This intensive two-day course focuses on current informatics trends and issues. It includes content for Registered Nurses who are interested in becoming American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certified Informatics Nurses. Other clinical professionals working in informatics may wish to take the course to become exposed to the course topics.
Participants will earn 14 contact hours of continuing education credits for attending this event. This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved by Montana Nurses Association, an accredited approver with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. In order for learners to earn a certificate, participants will attend the entire activity and submit an evaluation form.
This program is approved for up to 14.5 continuing education (CE) hours for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CAHIMS).

Facilitators
Susan K. Newbold, PhD, RN, NI-BC, FAAN, FHIMSS, FAMIA, is the Course Director and Consultant in Healthcare Informatics.
She is uniquely qualified to teach this course as she has experience in the vendor, consulting, academic and hospital worlds. Dr. Newbold is ANCC Board Certified in Nursing Informatics and initiated the first review course in nursing informatics in 1995.
In 2023 she was honored with the Virginia K. Saba Informatics Signature Award. Ball State University School of Nursing, Muncie, IN. has selected Dr. Newbold for the first Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.
Gwen Holder, MSN, RN, NI-BC, is the Director, Nursing Informatics Services Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.
She has presented at the local, regional and national level on informatics related topics and has several informatics and leadership related publications.
Gwen is board certified in Nursing Informatics by the ANCC. She is the President of the Tennessee Chapter of ANIA. Gwen is the 2018 recipient of the Vanderbilt Adrienne Ames Transformational Nursing Leader Award.
