Admissions Requirements

Post-MSN Family and Adult/Gerontological Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate Programs

  • Master of Science in Nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited institution
  • Pre-admission interview may be required
  • License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey (license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania may be recommended)

Additional Requirements

  • CPR Certification
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Drug test
  • Liability Insurance for a student nurse practitioner
  • Adherence to the health requirements of the college and the school

Post-MSN Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate for MSN-Prepared Adult and Geriatric NPs

  • Master of Science in Nursing from an NLN or CCNE Accredited institution
  • National certification as an Adult or Geriatric Nurse Practitioner
  • Pre-admission interview may be required
  • License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of New Jersey (license to practice in the state of Pennsylvania may be recommended)
  • Certification to practice as an advanced practice nurse in New Jersey (advanced practice certification in the state of Pennsylvania may be recommended)
  • Successful completion of the following graduate level courses:
    • general pathophysiology
    • general pharmacology within the five years prior to admission into the program.
    • health assessment that includes content and laboratory/practical experiences related to all age groups and both genders.

Owing to exceptionally high enrollment and retention, the Department of Nursing has no capacity for external transfer students seeking admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for the 2022-2023 academic year. This notice will be updated if capacity allows for applications to be submitted through the Office of Admissions for the 2023-2024 academic year.
